Charms101. Describe your Wand. General Wand Properties

Repartimos a los alumnos sticks de madera cortados de unos 30cm aproximadamente para que los decoren como ellos quieran.  Hacemos la punta de forma más sencilla usando un sacapuntas en clase.

En clase decoramos la varita y para ello el profesor con una pistola de silicona o plastilina da forma a las diferentes varitas mientras que los alumnos la decoran con pegatinas, hilo... pintandola, con purpurina etc... 

  

También podemos usar papeles o folios para hacerlo de un modo más sencillo

También se pueden utilizar palos de la calle para realizar las varitas. Es importante dejar volar la creatividad, ya que cada alumno crea su varita como desea.

Después realizamos una exposición en el hall del Centro de varitas. Los ganadores, votados entre todos, se llevan puntos extras para sus casas

Es fundamental recordar a las niñas y niños que esta es su varita y que deben cuidarla a lo largo de todos estos cursos. "La varita elige al mago" creando un vinculo casi sentimental

A wand is a quasi-sentient magical instrument through which a witch or wizard channels her or his magical powers. Magic with a wand is usually performed with an incantation. Wands are manufactured and sold by wand makers; the most famous of these in Great Britain is Ollivander

Charms 102. The Wand Lihgting Charm Lumos-Nox

Vamos a empezar nuestra primera clase practica de hechizos y para ello después de una breve introducción vamos a pedir a nuestros niños y niñas que realizan estos dos simples hechizos. Para ello apagamos todas las luces de la clase y una vez que les hemos enseñado la posición, movimiento de la varita y el encantamiento les pedimos que uno a uno realicen el hechizo (por supuesto necesitamos una luz para que parezca que el hechizo ha salido bien; esto lo conseguiremos simplemente colocándonos al lado del niño o niña que esté realizando el hechizo mientras sostenemos un puntero, puede ser de diferentes colores para aparentar diferentes formas de realizar el hechizo, así los niños creerán que su varita es la que esta haciendo el hechizo) 

Para ello primero vemos el hechizo en un vídeo de la película de Harry Potter y luego les pediremos que se graben en vídeo haciendo el hechizo en casa. Para ello también os dejo un vídeo explicativo sobre como hacerlo en after effects, aunque se puede hacer más sencillo

 Welcome my little friends once again to our Charms classroom... I suppose all of you have brought your wand to the classroom, because today we are going to begin with our first spell: the Wand-Lighting Charm.

Charms 102. The Wand Lighting Charm - Lumos- Nox

Lumos

As the name implies, this simple spell will allow you to illuminate the tip of your wand. It is one of the easiest spells to master, useful whenever you need light, and makes for some good spellcasting practice.
But first let´s learn about the basic components that you need to perform a spell. 
Obviously the most important one is the position that the wizard has during the moment of casting the spell. 
There are other important components that we will learn during the following years: Incantation, Wand movement, willpower and concentration.  But this year , your first year, we will practise your position and way of using your wand

Now! Onto the casting!

The Wand-Lighting Charm
Incantation: Lumos (pronounced ‘LOO-mos’)
Wand Movement: Single counter-clockwise loop
Willpower: Low; determines the color of the light
Concentration: Low; lighting up the top of your wand

The Wand-Lighting Charm would be complete without its equally-simple counter, the Wand-Extinguishing Charm. This spell has a singular purpose, and that is to counter the Wand-Lighting Charm. It is a personal charm, which means it will only work for your own wand, or the wand you happen to be holding should it be lit.

The Wand-Extinguishing Charm
Incantation: Nox (pronounced ‘NOCK-ss’)
Wand Movement: Flick of the wand
Willpower: None
Concentration: None

Con los alumnos mas mayores podemos pedirles que hagan una redacción sobre como se realiza este hechizo y podemos enseñarles alguna variante como por ejmplo "Lumos Maxima"

   

Charms 103.. The Levitation Charm - Wingardium Leviosa

Seguimos con l@s alumn@s de primer curso y seguimos con los hechizos mas sencillos. En este otro hechizo muy sencillo: El hechizo de levitación.

Para ello recordamos que era necesario pegar en la punta de la varita un pequeño imán.  El truco consiste en pegar en una pluma una pequeña porción de metal que no pese mucho que al entrar en contacto con el imán que posee nuestra varita realizara un pequeño efecto de atracción con el cual conseguiremos el hechizo de levitación deseado. También se puede realizar este hechizo mediante un pequeño cordel muy fino que se ata entre la varita y la pluma

Lesson 3: Wingardium Leviosa

Welcome my little students once again to this classroom. The last time we learnt two easy spells: Lumos and Nox. I hope you have practise them at home
Today we are going to learn another very simple spell: The Levitation Spell

The Levitation Charm, invented by Jarleth Hobart, is the closest the Wizarding World has come to true flight. The charm is easy enough that you will learn it as first year students. It allows the caster to control not only the vertical movement of an object but its movement back and forth or side to side. Height is also less of a restriction, though levitating or maintaining levitation on something very far away can be difficult. The charm even allows you to lift objects normally too heavy for you to lift yourself, though this also requires some effort

Incantation: Wingardium Leviosa (win-GAR-dee-um levi-O-sa)
Wand Movement: Swish and flick
Willpower: Low; Visualize your energy coming from your body and lifting the object.
Concentration: Moderate; on the thing you want to levitate

As you say Wingardium start the “Swish” motion. Time the swish so that it ends just after you begin saying Leviosa. Then, as you finish saying Leviosa, do the “Flick.” And remember, keep your mind focused on the target of your spell and visualize drawing energy from your body as we practiced before. I know it may take some time for you to get used to doing all of these things at once, but with practice, casting this spell and many others will become easier.
